So I'm trying to install Windows 10 on a brand new pc that I built today. The installation process is stuck at "Getting files ready for installation" at 87%. The cursor is also frozen. It's been like this for 20 mins. Is this normal? Should I reboot and repeat the installation process or should I just wait?

Don't restart the system after checking the specs—this is why

Looks like a damaged ISO file. Are you working with a CD or USB stick? That’s pretty odd. Did you try Windows 10? Or are you just joking since someone mentioned Microsoft is paying attention?

The installation process for Windows 10 varied in length depending on backup procedures and system setup. This might be related to how files were saved during the install.

Upgrades aren't advised and we caution you to save your files. It's your responsibility. As usual. I'd retry or verify your ISO since delays could be long.

I performed a fresh setup for a specific reason, installing from a USB drive which damaged my hard drive.

I’m sure you’re right, I’m not making this up. Windows 10 won’t start.

Well that's not a big deal just a failed install. Like that doesn't happen to other OS's. <_<
