Windows 10 activation issue is occurring.
I've completed a fresh setup using the creation tool from a memory stick, but Windows won't recognize my activation code. The clean installation I did doesn't include the account activation feature. I downloaded version 1607 from the media catalog, but when I attempt to run it, it shows "Windows standalone installer" and says the update isn't applicable. My PC crashes and restarts four times during installation. I'm unsure what to do and think I should update to the latest version, but the creators update only installs about 80% of the time and causes issues. Help needed to activate Windows!
Your CD key is tied to your motherboard, as you recall. It’s possible you’ll need to purchase another key.
Yes, it's a fresh setup on outdated hardware for a brand-new system.
you obtained the key from the original packaging or label. if not, you may need to contact the manufacturer's support team through their customer service.
Unless he clarifies, it seems he might have used a Windows install from another SSD on a different machine. It appears he didn’t boot to the original image first to test the hardware changes. If that happened, it looks like the original setup won’t be recognized. Unless you can restore the drive to the old system and reinstall Windows there before switching, success becomes uncertain. OEMs often don’t support these scenarios, though I’ve seen cases where they did work. To be honest, this is mostly guesswork. lol
Occasionally after hardware modifications, Windows won't activate automatically. However, reaching out to Microsoft support often resolves the issue if you're using the same machine. I recently faced this problem during a motherboard, CPU, and RAM upgrade. Officially, they don't require activation for component swaps, but I've had success by confirming the previous Windows version is gone and that it's truly the identical system.
