After upgrading to Windows 21H1, I started encountering issues with VALORANT. Every time I launch the game, multiple applications become unstable, showing either a white or black screen. I’m not sure if other games experience the same problem with this update, but I only have VALORANT installed at the moment.

Well, your memory is above 90% which means Windows will start moving programs to the page file on your C drive, which makes everything very slow. That's also part of the equation. How much RAM do you have? Are your games and OS running off of spinning rust or SSDs? How's the health of your storage devices? (check with crystaldiskinfo).

Experiencing the same problems. It looks like everything functions normally except when launching Valorant—its icon turns black, just like in the earlier post. Other applications such as Spotify and taskbar tools also behave similarly. This suggests the explorer isn’t working properly, preventing access to documents or search functionality. I preloaded my system before receiving the Windows update notification, so I might not repeat this action again. I’m hoping to find a solution through forums, but currently there are no major reports about this issue, and I haven’t found a working fix online yet. I own an RTX 2060S with 6GB RAM and ample space on my C drive. If anyone is willing to investigate, feel free to share your system specifications.

This was the initial connection between Valorant and the query, so I adjusted my search. Many users are encountering problems there. Reddit clarified the issue, relating it to Riot's Vanguard. For details, check out their explanation. The only solutions are downgrading to 20h2 or holding off until a Vanguard update is released, as Riot is aware of it.

I notice an issue with the latest Windows 21H1 release. It seems there might be a problem affecting Valorant, though I can't determine the exact cause or reason. I think the update could be responsible, and I reset my PC after thinking it might be infected. When I reinstalled Valorant, the bug didn’t appear until I updated Windows again. My friend also experienced this issue, believing an optimization would fix things, but he had the same problem. I’m relieved we’re not alone, and I hope Microsoft addresses this in future updates.

NGL, the creators of Valorant clearly lack competence. Bugs related to system failures often stem from a persistent kernel-level driver rootkit being installed. It’s curious to think about whether Riot might face legal action over this issue.

I face the same issue again. When launching Valorant apps, they display black and the PC doesn't function well. I've tried various fixes but haven't found a solution yet. It seems I might wait for Riot to release an update. Unlucky Sad D:

Each Windows update introduces some issues. It’s best to postpone all installations for a month or more. Let others act as testers. I maintain a USB install ISO for the Windows version the three family computers use, just in case.

I encountered this problem too, so I simply removed the 21H1 update and everything worked again.
