I've been using this one in my server box for about eight months now and it's performed excellently around the clock (I also got a contact frame for it). Personally, I'd spend an extra $13 to get the K just to have the built-in graphics, but both options are solid choices.
Also considering that build again, with the 12600kf you'd have similar performance to the k, and choosing the Thermalright peerless assassin we discussed, you might be able to swap the GPU for a 6700xt and achieve a better result.
So I'm really restricted to MicroCenter BC since we're going into the store to purchase the parts, and I can't find the 12600KF online. What should I do now? He's buying the rest of the parts, so I need a final build or else I might stick with my original plan based on what you suggested.
Your motherboard isn’t available, but a microcenter nearby might have it. The staff there are usually well-informed, so you could inquire about compatibility with that CPU. It should work, though I’ve mainly built AMD systems and am now preparing an Intel build, which means doing some research.
Still, bring your build list, the representative might know about any Black Friday specials or deals.
