Building a PC for your friend sounds like a great project. To ensure everything works smoothly, you should double-check that all parts are connected and set up correctly. If not, you might need to make adjustments before the build is complete.
Give a bit of advice. Being as your new to building there is a got ya every time you build a new PC and put the side on before first boot, it has issues . Can't explain it maybe the powers that be playing a joke.

Because of those board's VRM, switch the CPU to an i5 12400.
Upgrade the RAM to Teamgroup T-Force Vulcan Z DDR4-3200 2x16GB CL16.
Replace the SSD with Crucial P3 Plus 1TB.
I also have a budget of $900, which has now dropped to about $820. Are there any upgrades you could consider? My friend has already purchased the GPU and motherboard, so those are excluded from the calculation.
Also, people are suggesting the 12400, but Amazon currently has a Black Friday offer on the i5 12600kf for $140. My thought is that the 12600k and LF models are nearly identical, except the LF lacks graphics. I think you might want to get the CPU first, then upgrade the board. It would be wise to look into purchasing the motherboard and GPU with a two-year warranty in case of problems.
Even though the VRMs aren't ideal for that board, it's still acceptable for a 12600K since it won't be overclocked. Just ensure the CPU isn't operating without power limits—this might not be the default on such a board (it could lack that setting). It's uncertain if you're restricted to Micro Center, but if not, you might find better CPU options and a more affordable cooler.
