They set up their Wi-Fi routers with optical connections. I've noticed them. The available options don't seem to be found in physical stores; it looks like they purchase them directly from the manufacturer.

They consider the type of fiber used since it affects the required SFP and can be costly. If confirmed it's SFP fiber, options include brands like Ubiquiti, MikroTik, or setting up a pfSense device with a dedicated access point.

Consider the Mikrotik hAP AC model (not the updated hAP AC2) for your home setup. It functions well as an AP and can be configured as a complete router even without the SFP module.

It's a bit expensive, but it matches what you needed, including LEDE support.

I’d prefer RouterOS and use the WinBox tool instead of the standard HTTP server setup (WebFig) during setup and troubleshooting. LEDE works well, and the Mikrotik devices are solid, though Mikrotik primarily focuses on software solutions. Their core offering is RouterOS, and they produce quality hardware around it.

I enjoy incorporating open source solutions whenever possible. It brings a cozy sense of satisfaction.

In my area, a fibre supplier doesn’t rely on cpe; they just need an sfp connection into the premises. They offer sfp routers but you can supply your own—mostly Mikrotik and Ubiquiti if you choose to make your own. We mainly use Ubiquiti and Mikrotik Gear.
