It requires minimal resources, focusing more on hardware actions. Windows needs almost no memory when idle.
Some Linux distributions require less power, while others feel quite similar to macOS or Windows 10. It really comes down to the specifications of your system. The main issue with Vista wasn't just the operating system—it was often due to low-end hardware and insufficient memory.
I prefer Linux Mint, Windows 95/98/XP/Vista/8.1/10, and OSX Mountain Lion. These were the ones I found most enjoyable to study and use over time.
