The change from 3600 cl18 to 3600 cl16 is unlikely to be significant overall. If the price gap is substantial, you might prefer the 3600 cl18 kit.

Corsair doesn't provide details about ranking numbers. As I mentioned, it's not crucial unless you're creating a new character. 16 GB single rank is becoming increasingly popular.

Are you familiar with when this began? It adds complexity for me. I’d prefer a 4x8 layout since dual rank provides better bandwidth than single rank, even though single rank might be simpler to manage.

I might have misunderstood, but I swear I've come across info on single rank 16 GB dimm's I can't locate at the moment. Still, the technology exists (32 GB DIMM's), and it works. I've never noticed multiple ranks boosting performance, though. In my experience with DDR3, adding more ranks usually reduces speed a bit.

Essentially comes down to workload characteristics. For DDR4, synthetic benchmarks like Aida64 reveal a modest bandwidth boost while slightly raising latency. In scenarios where RAM bandwidth is constrained, Prime95 with extensive FFT and comparable configurations can deliver more than a 20% performance gain when all other parameters remain constant. This difference may relate to how the tool handles read and write operations. In constrained gaming situations, my tests haven’t uncovered any meaningful distinction beyond measurement inconsistencies. I recall observing comparable results in DDR3, but it’s been too long to confirm.

This version seems to differ from the Ryzen 5000 lineup. Higher tiers now offer four ranks compared to two, with some users reporting gains of 8-10% in games. With affordable 16GB RAM, it's becoming more common to see multiple tiers rather than sticking to just one. Be mindful of upgrading to something like 32GB.
