When upgrading to AM5, are there any adjustments needed?
Seeking discreet RAM options without RGB, as some dual tower systems struggle with tall heatsinks. Based on the review I shared, Thermalright appears to be the top choice for air cooling currently. Either of those CPU coolers should work well in your setup.
Yes, I can try that when upgrading to AM5, though it seems unnecessary.
The 5800x struggles to maintain 165fps even with a 5090 at 1080p, no matter the adjustments. A 5070ti can approach performance at 1440p using a 9800x3d, according to HUB's feedback. BF6 demands significant CPU power.
I would note that even with a 5090, not many cards can achieve 165FPS. It’s only the 9000X3D chips that manage this.
Your GPU at 1440p will only reach around 95FPS lows, which is close to what you see with the 5800X. At full performance, your GPU and CPU are roughly balanced. The choppiness you experience in the game is likely due to low frame rates. You might try enabling DLSS to see if it improves stability.
Getting 10 extra frames per second above $700 seems a bit excessive.
The issue is they don't reach their FPS goals at any resolution, regardless of GPU or setting. At 1440p high, they approach closer, reaching about 150fps according to HUB's data with the 9800x3d. A 5800x only manages around 116fps at 1080p low, using a 5090. I think the 5800x will show more obvious stutter because of poorer frame timing consistency compared to the 9800x3d. Sadly HUB doesn't evaluate these aspects. Even my 12700k is performing better than the 5800x, just barely surpassing a 5800x3d in this title. The 9000 x3d models are clearly ahead, significantly outperforming the others.
