The chance to buy the ESU should show up in Settings, whether you're using a Local or MS account.
In my Win 10 VM it never got activated and was only used with a local admin account.
Of course, to buy the ESU properly I'd have to log in with an MS account and connect that PC license to the account.
But it did show up.
Maybe the difference lies in whether you're a Standard user or an Admin user.
It seems it comes down to the strength of those machines. The i3-10100 with a DDR4 board—around 160 pieces, brand new—works fine. I moved away from my underclocked 4770k to a 12100, but didn’t really upgrade to Windows10; I just switched to Linux. The 4770k still supports Windows 10, and after reinstalling my 2016 drives it booted perfectly. I’ve dabbled in retro gaming with my 2000/XP setup, but things have slowed down lately. I think I might have blown my Pentium III yesterday, and the power supply failed—now it won’t boot. I’m looking for some DDR memory to revive my old Athlon XP.
So what Google stated was incorrect... thanks, it's good to know. Still unclear why the option isn't available.
Oh, Pentium III... I used to have a Pentium II and maybe a Pentium IV (was that even possible?) and possibly an Athlon. But that was a long time ago...
However, I don't just want my computers to run; I need them to function smoothly with all my current software and dependencies, and they should be compatible enough with my main system.
It seems the AI's response might have been affected by the question mark or similar characters, but it confirmed local accounts aren't eligible. The original message and tone were preserved.
