Besides Microsoft, there are other restrictions in place regarding the OS, and a single update might cause it to fail.

No one has reported issues after the upgrade with any work arounds. Regarding access to the OS, it seems you're asking about full functionality.

Yeah, from the same place on Microsoft's board (I don't recall if I was connected to them), they mentioned it would begin rolling out at the start of August, with completion expected by mid-August.
I don't really trust official statements, just glanced at some news here and there with screenshots.
That's why I'm asking about it.
Also, this weekend I had some time and hope to handle this.

Bitlocker for one. You need to keep in mind you don’t meet the minimum requirements for the operating system and are installing something Microsoft doesn’t really support. If Microsoft decides, they can just render the system unusable or stop updates altogether. When the least supported CPU is a 7700K on PCIE 3, what’s the point in waiting?

"If Microsoft decides to do so, they could simply shut down the system."
They don't risk it.
"or stop updates at any time they decide"
You can always wait until then.

I checked Google again about what to do if ESU enroll doesn<|pad|>, the AI mentioned needing a Microsoft account for updates and local accounts aren’t allowed. Does this mean I can’t just extend licenses, and must use MS Accounts instead?

It would make sense. They aim to gain more from the arrangement, and your data can be used for profit.

Windows 11 emphasizes data gathering, which is one method to ensure it continues and becomes standard.
Cost: $30 for a year, valid for up to 10 devices linked to one Microsoft account.
Duration: Users are restricted to a single year of paid ESU.
Enrollment: The subscription demands registration with a Microsoft account.
Registration note: Each Windows license must be tied to that MS account.
For commercial users, annual fees rise up to three years.
Temporary note: This applies for critical systems; otherwise, it’s time to explore alternatives. Windows 7 remained popular despite outdated security patches, likely leading to more targeted malware. The same trend is expected with Windows 10.
On the other hand, if you rely solely on Windows 10 for basic use and only access trusted sites with adblockers enabled, you should continue with the current security updates.

I have two computers affected, which means I won't have to pay 60 EUR.
I first learned it would be a renewable year to year, for at least several years. Perhaps that wasn't accurate information or an early assumption?
How will MS recognize a license extension if it isn't linked to an MS account? I thought I'd have to connect the license to an MS account, or install Windows with that account and possibly add a local account later.
Does Win 10 Pro qualify as "commercial"? (I doubt it.)
These are older, secondary computers used for specific and sometimes demanding tasks (like rendering, hosting sandbox VMs, processing files, etc.). Upgrading them now isn't ideal since I'm handling costs related to flooding in part of my apartment and I recently upgraded my main PC. Delaying the upgrades is therefore acceptable even for a year.
