In the coming few months, when the 11th generation arrives, I plan to upgrade my 9700k to one of three choices: 11700k, 11900k, or 5900x. The decision mainly hinges on pricing for the CPU. If I choose Intel, I’m likely to get a Z490. Between two options for the motherboard, I need to weigh the costs—there’s a $125 difference between the Z490 TOMAHAWK and the MEG Z490, but I’m unsure if that unification justifies the extra cost. My goal is a solid motherboard that supports my Patriot Viper Steel 4400MHz and offers improved timing and clock speeds. If anyone has experience with these or knows more, your advice would be invaluable, or you could suggest other options!

Don't upgrade yet! Your CPU is fine, just hold off until the end of the year for the 12th generation. I wouldn't purchase a 400-series board now since the 500 series will arrive and offer better performance.

Switching from a 9700k requires careful consideration unless you're using ultra-high refresh 1080p or handling tasks demanding extra cores.

I'm streaming at 240-360Hz in 1080p resolution.

Z490's legitimacy comes from its Gen 4 build and a few extra lanes, making it stand out.

12th Gen will cost a lot, particularly the RAM. Upgrading seems unnecessary since you already have 4400MHz and it should work fine for 11th Gen or Zen 3.

the memory oc and other stuff is only gonna get better, i wouldnt touch z490 for 50% off atm, and there's no guarantee that z490 will work flawlessly with rocket lake out of the box.

I really question whether it will improve much, but whatever you think.

I chose the Ryzen for its performance.
