I'm planning to hold off on choosing the Z490 until the next generation benchmarks arrive. This wasn't about picking Z590 or Zen 3—it was all about deciding which Z490 model to get!

It seems there were only three choices, and the 5900x was one of them.

I’m considering Intel options and might end up with a Z490. I’m weighing between two M.2 slots—TOMAHAWK or UNIFY. The price gap is about $125, but I’m unsure if it’s worth the extra cost. I just need a solid card that supports my Patriot Viper Steel 4400mh Z and offers improved timing and clocks.

5900x would make a great choice. It outperforms 10900k in gaming and handles heavy workloads well. I’d pick 5900x. Reports suggest the 11900k will cost similarly, but it offers 8 cores versus 12 cores on 5900x—plus rumors say it’s slightly better in single digits compared to the 10900k. Still, these are just whispers; we’ll need to wait and see.

what i found in the rumors is that the 11900k should be around $450 before tax. After taxes, adding the mobo to my upgrade would bring it to $792 for the 5900x/b550 model and $694 for the 11900k/z490 model. All figures are after tax, and ultimately it comes down to gaming benchmarks—maybe I’ll aim for $350 on a 11700k. Also, keep in mind this whole discussion is about choosing between Intel and AMD; i’m leaning toward the Z490. There’s a debate about whether the price difference of $125 unifies the models or if it’s worth it. I just need a solid mobo to run my Patriot Viper Steel 4400mh and get better timings and clocks.
