What should I do to get my PC running smoothly again?
Hello.
My PC has been from August 12th, 2022 and has generally run smoothly until now. Since July 7th it has started to slow down noticeably, and recently it has become quite sluggish. Sometimes I can't even use Mozilla Firefox anymore, and Google Chrome is also very slow—pages don’t load properly, documents take a long time to open, and turning off the computer feels delayed. Then suddenly everything speeds up again, which is strange and frustrating. I have a backup from June 29th that I could use, but some files are missing, so I’m hoping for another fix.
I’ve been using Windows Defender and it isn’t detecting any viruses.
Here are my specifications:

I had no idea there was a method to test RAM, how do I proceed?
On the C drive where Windows is installed, I have 1.71 TB of space, and on my D drive, I have 387 GB remaining, but I haven’t used Task Manager to check it. I’m not sure what exactly I should look for.
Thank you for your help.
You can obtain an initial check of memory by entering "memory" into a search field.
You’ll notice "Windows Memory Diagnostic." It won’t be very detailed, but it might detect some problems.
In Task Manager, the "CPU" and "Disk" sections should indicate if resources are being heavily used. Adjust the column order to see the most active items first.
Completely in agreement with post #2, open the task manager at that moment. Check if the CPU is being utilized at a high level. Then proceed to the list and identify what might be consuming all the resources. While the task manager is active, look at the task bar for your icon. Right-click it and pin it there for quick access. This can help streamline troubleshooting when you encounter PC issues.

After the 29th when the pc was running well, did you install anything?
I haven't installed any programs after the 29th, just modified documents and added pictures, I think.
You might want to back up all your files and photos to another storage device.
Next, restore the image taken on June 29.
Finally, transfer the documents and images back to the restored file.
This isn't necessarily advised, but it could be an option.
If the PC becomes slow later, check Task Manager for the most active processes.
