Hello, I have a Ryzen 7800X3D with a Seasonic Gold rated 1000 W power supply, a B650E motherboard, and an RX6700XT graphics card. My question is whether I should wait for the 9070 XT graphics cards to return in stock and possibly drop back to their $600 MSRP, or if I should consider buying a used 6900 XT instead. If I decide to go that route, I’d expect it to cost between $500 to $600 on eBay if I search carefully. If it’s important to me, I’m playing at 1080P with 144hz and some games either hit the full VRAM limit or run poorly because I tend to push them to their limits.

You can purchase hardware through hardwareswap. You might receive a 4080 or even a superior GPU at a fair price.

there will likely be improved stock or re-stock for the 9070xt eventually.
I’m not sure I’d risk a second-hand GPU myself.
If you manage to find a 7900xt, that could be an alternative.
The 9070xt offers better performance than my 7900xtx, even though it’s not as strong in raster; it’s still close.
Everything is overpriced, but overall the 9070xt appears to be the top new price-to-performance GPU available right now.

I don't really focus on ray tracing.

Even if it returns to stock, the 9070 XT is not being offered for sale at the listed price of $600.

if you're comfortable with a used GPU, you can look for models like RTX 4070 Ti Super or RTX 4080 both with 16GB VRAM.
or wait until new ones become available at fair prices (though this might take a while).
i wouldn't hesitate to purchase a used GPU.
i've found many good deals this way before—(i bought my ex-GTX 1080 and current 2070 Super this way...)
the 2070 Super cost me about 220 dollars three years ago, and it still had six months of warranty left with a buyer's receipt.
if you apply common sense and stay careful, you should be able to avoid scammers and faulty hardware.

@dark_globe
i like to keep using amd, so what do you think about a used 6900xt? i know it's four years old, but i still consider it powerful. on ebay it's often available for under $600.

this card is outdated now, it also shows very strong short-term power bursts (up to 600w). for about $600 it's also quite costly (i can find it for $400 where i live). you'd be better off with a 7800xt (same performance, modern features and less power-hungry), but to fully unlock your CPU's gaming potential, you might want to aim higher.

i don't like the nvidia 40 series power cables they need, but i own a 1000 watt seasonic gold rated psu from 2020, so a 600 watt 6900xt won't cause any problems for me.
