A higher tier improvement would be the 4070/5070 or 7800xt/9070 models. 6900xt could be preferable, though you'd need to rely on the seller's honesty given its low price of $530. Regarding patience, I'm uncertain if prices will rise this year. The shortage is significant and largely due to more efficient wafer utilization.

i mean upgrading to an even better gpu (because your processor could fully use any available one).
but i get the point that prices are currently high.
so in the short term, a cheaper video card might be a reasonable choice.
still, i would suggest opting for a 7800xt instead of a 6900xt if you don’t need nvidia, and if you manage to find a 7800xt at a decent price.
