What Do You Think About Windows 8.1?
If you are stubborn and hate windows 8, you will not like it because it's core is still the same. If you have upgraded to Windows 8, 8.1 is a nice update with many small changes that improve the overall experience. If you have windows 8, there is no reason not to update to 8.1.
ok now that the people that never looked at a screen shot of Windows 8 commented... here is my first impression: -> WOW! -> Installed in a breeze, and everything worked perfectly, even some of my old applications. -> The Modern UI apps are drastically (night and day) better than before, and filled with features. -> So far everything is fast, stable, as ever before. -> SkyDrive integration is awesome -> Unified search is great, however I wish that the if you select a search result, it closes afterwards the search result, now it acts like an app. No show stopper.
Up to now, it frustrates me a lot. I've never experienced such problems with a fresh update to any operating system before.
I've also heard similar issues with Windows 7, Vista, XP, 2000 and all the Service Packs. It's just like any Windows update. Saying "lots of people having problems" doesn't make sense. If a virus existed before the install, it's normal to face difficulties. Why? Because even if an antivirus removes a virus, any changes or deletions made to system files won't be fixed by it. Re-installing Windows is often necessary. The main goal for an A/V is to stop infections and avoid getting infected in the first place. You'll always encounter people with hardware issues. And don't forget those who modify their OS by changing files with programs. Also, sometimes forgetting to uninstall security software can block updates from working properly. There are many reasons why updates might fail.
Began with the "SecureBoot isn't configured correctly" warning on my screen. Still struggling to resolve it. Earlier, I experienced unexpected reboots and screen flickering, which resolved after some driver updates. After stability returned, audio problems emerged—voices sound distorted while other sounds remain clear. I updated the audio drivers and tried rebooting, but the computer failed to start properly. Once it finally booted, the new drivers didn’t solve the issue. Now I’m considering a full system reinstall to see if that fixes things. This situation is unusual for me since I’ve never faced OS updates beyond software conflicts before.
I've observed a couple of features that really appeal to me. The option to set your desktop background to match the start screen gives the impression of a single operating system rather than two. When you switch to a modern UI app from desktop mode and then close it, it returns to desktop instead of staying on the start screen. These aspects have made the free update very worthwhile for me, especially since I'm already using Windows 8.
For Secure Boot, activate it within the UEFI (BIOS) configuration of your device. Regarding audio: http://channel9.msdn.com/Shows/Defrag-To...ime=11m53s
