BF4 offered a decent experience compared to some titles. It avoided the repetitive color filters and consistent death animation found in earlier versions like 3. The game aimed to unify maps and modes, though conquest mode was the only one that felt solid. Based on their claims about Portal, it seems plausible they could have succeeded. However, the PS5 version fell short. Performance issues emerged over time, with crashes, slow loading, and visual disturbances like flashing lights. The map design was poor, with weak capture points and limited movement flow. Operator placement was questionable, weapon customization was confusing, and the user interface was clunky. Vehicle handling felt unrefined, and the so-called "plus system" was a confusing addition. Overall, many aspects of the game fell short, making it a disappointing experience despite its initial promise.

BF4 is essentially a rebranded version of BF3 with some trivial tweaks, which is why I never purchased it—I didn’t perceive value in paying for nearly identical content twice. From my perspective, everything after BF4 was disappointing. You could even argue that Battlefield reached its height with BF2 in the mid-2000s, then gradually declined, and after BF3 the downward trend only intensified.

I'm not entirely sure about the portal setup—I think I'll check how it works before deciding. Most of what I've seen about Portal focuses on personalization, but you're still tied to EA's servers. Official servers didn't perform well for BF4, and the EA servers were problematic for BFV. The positive side of BF4 is the ability to find servers with normal or high tick rates, strong anti-cheat measures, and restrictions on camping at the main spawn. I also think memory issues might be linked to PC hardware, causing lag and frame drops after several rounds. I suspect bugs are present in the beta, but it's hard to say if the launch will be much better. The orbital map seems subpar or poorly designed, with no team-based capture points and a large area that feels unwieldy. It’s quite different from BF4, where you could easily secure points and hold territory. The UI looks outdated, with the kill feed not prominently displayed, and I miss the pop-up showing points earned from kills or assists. The operator system feels confusing—players are still assigned to US or Russia teams, and enemy visibility is low because they use the same operators. I believe the specialist concept is just a marketing tactic for EA to push more specialized characters later. Weapon customization is decent, but it doesn’t add much value since you can usually pick a suitable loadout. With weapon tweaks, classes become less useful. The tornado is engaging, but storm events can become exhausting, disrupting gameplay and pushing everyone away from the storm or into the tornado. Overall, I think BF4 remains the strongest Battlefield title today, though it seems to have declined after that point.

Absolutely, I share your thoughts! It would make sense to include faction-locked operators since that’s what I envision.

I had really high hopes for this game. I've played the beta for 2 days now. I started bf4 got into one of my favorite servers and it was boomin. Everyone talking trash about 2042. The old bf4 guys I play with aren't getting it, had the same complaints that I do. They really should of had more than conquest in the beta. It's like Forrest Gump simulator with all the damn running you do
