What burned on my board?
I purchased this board roughly a month ago, and everything seemed normal at first. Now I’m inspecting it more closely and noticed some burning residue on the bottom. The original listing photo is still there. It’s been working well for me, delivering a stable 4GHz on an i7 960, so it probably isn’t critical. The model is an MSI X58A-GD45. I suspect it might be the FireWire connection point, and the previous owner possibly connected a USB port to it. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
The OEM is Firewire and the model is not specified in the provided context. The note mentions a tendency for Firewire to malfunction when mixed with a USB header.
I checked the manual, but it doesn’t mention it. If it were a fan header, it should be listed there.
