As a Windows Insider, you get emails when they address issues you raised. (generic version, not tailored) A free update is available until July 29, 2016.

In short, the free update you were told about wasn’t sent out, unless you didn’t pay your bills. Thanks for the Microsoft update. By the way, my system was set up in December last year, and I had registered my Windows version then. The promised free update never came through.
