It makes sense to obtain a key, but choose the most affordable one available—whether 10, 7, or 8. Windows 10 can be upgraded for free from other platforms, and while it's unclear if this was officially announced, there were discussions about it being a free upgrade from Windows XP. The most widely pirated version of Windows to date.

Windows 10 remains in an official beta stage, with many stores attempting to market it as a complete release. Despite efforts, the software is still plagued by numerous bugs, and even Microsoft hesitates to sell it in any form outside of beta.
