What are the specifications for an i7-7700K running at 5.1Ghz and 1.550 Volts?
Hello everyone,
Right now I have my 7700k overclocked at 5Ghz and 1.500 Volts, but I’m worried it might become unstable if I push it to 5.1Ghz at the same voltage. I’m considering adding an extra 50 volts, reaching 1.550 Volts, which is the maximum my motherboard supports for my i7 7700k. What should I do? Should I try overclocking it to 5.1Ghz at that higher voltage since my cooling system is adequate?
My CPU cooler: Corsair H100i v2
My motherboard: MSI Z170A Tomahawk
My thermal paste: Arctic Silver MX-4
My idle temperatures: 37-39 average
Purchase a fire extinguisher.
Curious about the load temperatures on sites like realbench?

1.5VOLTS????!?!! That's crazy. You must have been very lucky with the silicon (one in a million), or your CPU could explode soon. As the person above me advised, always keep a fire extinguisher nearby. Keep it down to 1.4V if you really want that overclock to pay off.
Well, after asking this question in the thread, I ran a core temp program and did a cinebench stress test. The temperatures were really close to 100°C now. At 4.7Ghz and 1.350 volts, with around 78°C to 74°C during full load, that’s my maximum overclock performance—something my CPU can safely handle. I’ve been using those voltages for about two weeks and haven’t seen any overheating spikes yet, so it’s much safer. No need for an extinguisher, sir!
DSzymborski:
what's the temperature like now?
average 78c (that's the MAX FULL LOAD).
After checking this thread, I ran a core temp program and performed a cinebench stress test. The temperatures were extremely close to 100°C. At 4.7Ghz and 1.350 volts, the average temperature during full load was around 78°C to 74°C. This is my maximum overclock performance, and it's safe for my CPU. I've been using these settings for about two weeks without any overheating issues so far—it's much safer than before. No need for an extinguisher!
RazerGamer66 shared their experience after testing the system. They ran a core temp program and performed a cinebench stress test, noting temperatures near 100°C. At 4.7Ghz and 1.350 volts, they achieved an average of 78°C to 74°C during full load, which is their safe maximum overclock performance. They've been using this voltage for two weeks without any overheating issues so far, making it much safer. No need for extinguishing anything! They're also running the 7700k at 4.7 with 1.19 volts.
