Hi, welcome! To keep your new PC safe without spending money, you can try Windows Defender as the built-in antivirus. Malwarebytes is another good free option that works well too. Both are lightweight and effective. Let me know if you need more tips! Thanks in advance, zbarni21

Windows Defender works well on its own, I also use Malwarebytes and Superantispyware. All three are free and each appears to detect threats others miss.

I'm confident most major security programs work with Windows 10 now. I rely on Avast and Malwarebytes, using them for years without issues. Being mindful of what you click—especially on Steam and Facebook, which can be targeted by hackers—is key to staying safe. Most folks favor Malwarebytes, but opinions differ for antivirus tools. Debates continue, so a quick poll might clarify your choice.

You can rely on Windows Defender, though it isn't the top antivirus. Your brain is the best defense—avoid suspicious downloads and you should be okay. If you suspect a link is unsafe, skip clicking it. I prefer Microsoft’s Malicious Software Removal Tool, but Malwarebytes works well too. Installing EMET would be helpful. If you opt for paid protection, Norton or Kaspersky are solid choices. For browsers, use adblockers such as AdBlockPlus or uBlock; NoScript is another good option to restrict scripts unless permitted. When installing software, pick Advanced Installer rather than Express because it usually adds unnecessary bloat. @Mike_The_B0ss You're really good at this.

You handle it yourself! (A firewall is still required, typically built into your modem or router.)

You should use an AV to protect yourself from unsafe websites and pirated content. Avoiding such sites helps keep your device safe. A Bitdefender can provide strong defense against these threats.
