Typically the issue arises when your search bar freezes, requiring a restart of "explorer.exe" in Task Manager. However, in my case everything functions except when I start typing a search term—after the first character it crashes. I ran SFC/SCANNOW and found no integrity violations, but I’m unsure what to do next and don’t want to reinstall my OS just for this. Any advice would be very helpful. Video of the problem is also needed.

I haven't encountered any problems with the start menu or Windows Explorer. This is because I maintain good care of my operating system and avoid actions such as upgrading, migrating, or cloning.

It's not my job, but it seems the issue lies with my hardware. I'm using a 990fx chipset and an 8350, and I mainly run into problems with USB 3.

It seems there might be some confusion. The statement appears to be unrelated to the main subject. Additionally, the phrase about the start menu suggests a possible misunderstanding or typo. Let me know how you'd like to proceed!

Before this latest setup (under a week ago), I used a 990FX chipset—initially with a Phenom II 1090T and later with an FX-8370. I experienced no problems with the start menu or USB 3. It seems you likely upgraded to Windows 10 from another version, which is usually where most issues arise. A clean installation is always the best choice when switching between Windows versions.

I usually perform fresh installations. Currently, my USB 3.0 ports sometimes stop working unexpectedly, but the drivers are all up to date.

This system has been around just a week, and I've had to reinstall the operating system twice already—each time from scratch. Perhaps the third attempt is working out.
