It seems like you're suggesting it's unlikely ever to be a good idea. By then, it might not even make sense.
The core purpose of an emulator is to mimic hardware you lack since it differs from your system. If it were similar to the original machine, the game would likely be directly transferred. Devices like the Game Boy, NES, SNES, and Genesis are straightforward to recreate, yet they remain distinct from today’s computers. Naturally, software emulation is always slow compared to the hardware it tries to replicate. This delay is simply a natural consequence of the process, and over time it becomes less noticeable.
It's incorrect to claim the emulation exists; it's still quite distant.
Currently, RPCS3 appears to be the primary PS3 emulator available, though it offers excellent performance.
And that is why I said there probably won't be one, by the time we have the horsepower to run it with playability, it'd be pointless to do, especially with the switch to digital content incoming. However, if there is demand it may happen. All depends as time goes on.
