You mainly use your PC for gaming, but you’re thinking about going back to streaming on your old 2600. The 3700x could be a good choice if you want better performance now. As for the difference between it and the 2600, they’re quite similar in terms of speed, though the newer model offers more features and stability.

In short, it depends on the situation.

3600 works for streaming, 3700x is even better, but for your needs I don’t think spending $100 is justified.

Compare the two options: 3700x with 16GB RAM at 2666MHz versus 3600x with 32GB RAM. Decide based on your needs for performance and storage.

Would a system with 3600x resolution and 16GB of RAM work?

3600 non x offers better value compared to 3600x. For Zen 2, a minimum of 3000/3200MHz is recommended, with 3600MHz being ideal. A 16Gb capacity is sufficient right now, and purchasing a 2x8 kit allows for future upgrades to 32Gb if needed.

Your PC displays 2666 MHz currently. Upgrading to 3600 or 3600X may increase it depending on the new specifications and system configuration.

Only if you manage to reach 3000MHz.
