From a neutral perspective, it seems they were monitoring your activity across all Windows versions, but Windows 10 appears to be the most problematic. However, there are methods to work around these issues—Windows 10 is your top choice if you're familiar with the process.

They say so. You can enjoy using Win7 for a while and get an upgrade during the final month of the Free Win10 Update.

For me too, I was changing back and forth since there were no ADB/flashboot drivers for Windows 10 on Xperia devices.

I also changed between W10 and W8.1, since my game performance dropped noticeably in Windows 10, especially in competitive settings like CS:GO.

Won ten simply because in 2016 they plan to upgrade all the 7 and 8 models, whether you like it or not. And they monitor you everywhere... Sent from mTalk

Windows 7 and Windows 10 share similarities but differ in features. Microsoft reportedly introduced surveillance via updates for Windows 7, whereas Windows 10 includes built-in protections. If you don’t intend to use gaming features and are open to losing older functionalities, consider these options. Edited December 2, 2015 by Yongtjunkit

The intended purpose of using the OS is discussed. Windows 10 works similarly to Windows 7, though some features are reduced. Windows 7 offers better support for older games and will still get updates until 2020, placing it near the halfway mark of its support timeline. Windows 7 and 8 lack DX12 support but can run Vulkan, which provides similar low-level communication for better game performance.

For gaming enthusiasts, Windows 7 is recommended now, especially if you activate your license with the free Windows 10 upgrade. This allows a smooth transition to Windows 10 later, avoiding any concerns about missing out on it.

If gaming isn’t a priority, Windows 10 may suit better due to its interface differences—rounded corners versus Windows 10’s angular ones—and fewer bugs. It also offers more customization options and easier admin changes.

The optimal choice depends on your needs: a Windows 7 Professional or Ultimate license is ideal, and upgrading to Windows 10 ensures the license remains valid for both platforms. Disabling automatic updates can stop telemetry data collection on Windows 7, while Windows 10 integrates telemetry directly.
