I've used both the Vive and Rift for three days each. Initially, I intended to purchase the Vive but later decided to go with the Rift. The headphones looked almost the same, but the controllers made me reconsider the Rift. They feel lighter and work better for extended use compared to the Vive's controllers. Since Valve is designing their controllers around the Rift's specifications, it seems many prefer that style too. I’d only suggest the Vive if your space isn’t large enough for the Rift’s sensors.
Thanks for the details. I’m curious if there’s a difference between the Vive 2 Base Station experience and Rift. I’ve used Vive before and it works well, but I’m not sure how Rift’s area tracking functions or whether it actually supports movement. If it can’t move at all, it might be disappointing for me.
The Rift includes two area sensors now, which work well but a third would be beneficial for frequent movement. The two need to stay close together and use controllers for tracking; turning around could block both. Adding a third lets you place one behind you. Vive sensors perform better here, though I haven’t noticed any problems. I only played one session with the Rift, the rest relied on position tracking.
