It's not a wise move to install metal braid on cables, you're clearly trying to do it.

Just before an hour passed I noticed the cable making contact with a small section of the board. I shifted it and the PC started up...and that’s when it worked! Why would they choose metal braiding for the cables? Other options like nylon or rubber could have been just as effective.

Absolutely right, that vendor definitely had the right setup. It's a smart choice—get standard cables instead.

The original unit was a vintage 400-watt model lacking PCIe power connectors. I recently replaced it with an EVGA 600-watt PSU, which includes the metal braid.
