It's not a wise move to install metal braid on cables, you're clearly trying to do it.
Just before an hour passed I noticed the cable making contact with a small section of the board. I shifted it and the PC started up...and that’s when it worked! Why would they choose metal braiding for the cables? Other options like nylon or rubber could have been just as effective.
You were fortunate with your PC's performance. Where did you buy it from? A shop, online listings, or a pre-built setup?
