It depends on how you set it up. If you keep your Windows 8.1 in a separate partition, you should be safe. The concern about Windows 10 Preview deleting files usually applies only to the preview itself, not to your existing OS. Just make sure the partition is properly isolated and backed up before proceeding.

They don’t seem to support this. It’s a risky move, really. Try keeping the windows updated before releasing them.

Suggest using another storage device instead of changing the partition that runs your current operating system. A friend has access to both Windows 8.1 and Windows 10 previews on separate drives.

Are you sure about this setup? It might be better to try another partition just in case. Plus, the 2TB external drive is already packed with files.
