It makes sense that it slows down when things get hot. 95°C is quite high, and I've seen laptops drop performance after hitting that temperature. Running at 90-95 for extended periods could cause hidden components like VRMs to overheat, leading to power restrictions. In a desktop, the same principle applies, but the design matters too.
Hello, I visited the store and everything seemed fine while I was there, but it slowed down again when I got home, which they couldn't resolve. My brother managed to fix it by disabling the CPU turbo boost. So far, my GPU is being used fully while keeping CPU usage between 30-50%. The temperatures are also normal at 65-75°C with the help of a Llano cooler. FPS remain smooth and consistent in games such as The Last of Us Part II, Apex Legends, and The Finals.
SO. After much troubleshooting, benchmarking, and testing, I reached this conclusion. Evaluate my answer if you disagree, but based on what I’ve seen it seems this: The laptop is throttling due to overheating issues. In this machine, the CPU is the issue—it struggles to dissipate heat properly and with boost disabled, it stops throttling because the fans can’t keep the CPU below 80 or 90°C constantly. Now, if you want a smooth gaming experience, I haven’t tested boost disabled in games yet, but I’m sure it’s a downside since it restricts the CPU’s full potential. You should turn boost on, open Intel Extreme Tuning Utility, go to Advanced Tuning, and adjust these settings: Enable “Turbo Boost Short Power Max” to 50,000W, set “Turbo Boost Short Power Max” to 35,000W, and “Turbo Boost Power Time Window” to 28.00 seconds. With these changes, performance stays stable above 2GHz, and games run without issues. This is my personal solution. I also ran XTU every time I boot up. Correct me if anything is off. Edit: Forgot to note, those temperatures were during Minecraft play, holding W in creative mode while high, which usually caused the throttle, but it no longer happens. Another edit: After about 30 minutes, it still throttles, which is weird.]
