Why not opt for adware that performs poorly on such an outdated system? Based on your responses, it seems you're likely joking, but spending $100 on a Windows 10 license on a 10-year-old machine is a terrible idea. Consider a lighter distribution—something using LXDE would likely be the best choice. Ubuntu probably won't work well with that setup; it's too old and GNOME3 requires significant memory.

Op is the rare case and a windows 7 machine needing a windows 10 also means a license fee. $100 for a Windows 10 on a first gen Intel atom netbook that probabaly itself costs just $100 back in the days is a very little price to pay? I doubt the system is even usable. Don't jest.

The Win10 Pro key is approximately $5 on eBay. I purchased two of them, and they functioned perfectly.
