Hello, I'm just starting with PC gaming and I'm trying to figure out why I'm seeing stuttering in Tomb Raider. Even though the GPU and CPU usage seem low, the VRAM is reaching its maximum of 8GB, right? Could that be the reason for the stutter? As you can see from the FPS graph, it's stable at 60 fps until a sudden spike occurs.

If the VRAM reaches its limit, you'll notice a big drop in FPS since the overflow will go to your standard DDR4 memory, which runs much slower. Certain scenes will use more textures than others. Reduce some settings to keep performance stable.

How is your VRAM utilization being optimized? I previously played Shadow of the Tomb Raider at full settings on a 1070 at 1080p without any stuttering.

It doesn't necessarily indicate usage if it's reserved. It likely began with the nVidia sponsored Tomb Rider game when they demonstrated that the GTX 970 could utilize over 3.5GB of VRAM without stuttering.

I turned it off and now I see 6700 mb usage, but the GPU usage is down to 60%, which is strange since I can't reach 99% GPU usage without hitting a VRAM limit.

The GPU consumption rises when your VRAM is limited because the GPU has to handle additional tasks, constantly moving files in and out of the VRAM; this causes the stuttering and FPS drops you experience.
This still feels unusual though.
My 1070 used about 6% usage at full capacity overall, except for one instance when it hit 1080p max.

Wait, ray tracing is included in Tomb Raider? I need to check if it's available.
I should verify the current status.
It seems the feature is present.
