Usability issues with Asus Zephyrus G14 in 2022 due to USB port damage
I mistakenly connected a USB A cable from a wall charger to one of the laptop's USB ports. It began smelling burnt, and the mouse stopped working on the other port. The computer shut down and then restarted normally, but the ports no longer functioned. Now the device is overheating and shows increased power use. Could this be fixed by swapping the ports or does it indicate a damaged USB controller? (The USB C side is working fine.)
When it gets warm, a possible issue appears either at the USB port or within the USB power delivery system. Unfortunately, fixing this isn't straightforward and it's likely more practical to have it repaired. Still, you may wish to hold off until someone else verifies or disproves my idea.
Assume that if the USB power delivery system isn't functioning properly, the motherboard would need to be swapped out.
