Hello everyone. I’m aiming to keep things brief. I recently changed my CPU from a Ryzen 3950x to the 5950X. Before that, everything worked perfectly. After the upgrade, my PC now freezes unexpectedly—monitors shut down, and nothing else makes it respond except a restart. This happens during gaming or web browsing. Temperatures are normal, and all software is current, including the BIOS. I’m still trying to identify the problem. To be honest, I never faced such an issue before this switch. My setup includes Windows 11 Pro, a 5950X processor, 32-core AMD Ryzen, 16GB RAM, a B450 GPU, and a Corsair PSU rated at 750W. I’m not sure if the power supply is the culprit, but I’m certain it wasn’t the case before. Any advice would be really appreciated!

What cooler are you using, its case type, and what PSU model is it? The 5950x tends to draw more power than the 3950x, while a 750W RMA is close to the stability limit of a 3080 and can easily tip into trouble.

Support the idea of @jaslion, the OP should consider switching to a new PSU.

Cooler is an Arctic Freezer 34 eSports model that stays below 64/65°F. The case uses a Corsair Air540 PSU, which is a Corsair CX750M—its previous version with green text.

The primary concern was that it might trigger this behavior even when the system is idle on a webpage. Could the PSU be responsible for this?

This older power supply is quite outdated. Switching to a Corsair RM850x would provide more capacity for future upgrades, especially for your graphics card.

It's impressive how it functioned from the beginning on a custom build. Upgrading to an 850W MSI MPG, Enermax Revolution D.F., or Corsair RM(X) resolved the issue. The cooling setup provides sufficient airflow for the VRMs, eliminating any concerns.

Your PSU needs to match the power requirements of your system. The 5950X handles up to nearly 200W, while the 2080Ti supports about 300W at full load. Check your system specs to ensure compatibility.

I’ll purchase a fresh PSU today. Are there any top-value options available at 850W? Should I go for the Gold certification or is Bronze acceptable?
