I focus mainly on my motherboard (B350) and think the BIOS update should help it work better. I’m unsure if it will really improve latency or speed, though I notice stutters when recording or streaming—could that be more software-related than hardware? An 8-core processor would likely suit you better. What can I expect from the 5600X in terms of performance?
The issue is that I can't increase the CPU speed beyond what's available. I attempted around 1.4 and 1.375, but it seems I need to adjust the LLC setting to 2. It worked with a 2200G, but not until I changed it. It might depend on how the motherboard is designed. I also don’t see much room for alternatives like the 5600X; most options seem too costly, even the older 3800X. Yeah, sure, but that’s the main concern—how would this perform on a B350 board? I’m looking for real-world results before making a decision.
I made the change from 3600XT to 5600X. Noticeable improvement in performance everywhere. Overall, it feels like a stronger CPU.
He still has some skills; I'd hold off until the next generation then move to the platform upgrade.
When there are no performance problems, it makes sense to keep your spending. My machine is a basic R5 2600, and I’m not sure I’m ready to upgrade just yet.
yeah, i was just wondering, especially on this motherboard... and well I dont have performance issues... OBS is another question though... its sometimes like it prioritizes the game instead of the recording/ stream... which is good imo, but it is noticeable when watching... (seems pretty random too) But then idk if thats a processor issue... i mean this can totally happen when cpu and gpu have low usage so its not necessarily that. could be i really need a 8c/16c ... (video editing is also pretty slow unless i use NVENC)
It seems like the issue might be related to bugs, especially with Nvidia ShadowPlay. Generally, OBS works well most of the time. The GPU model you mentioned is a 3070 Vision OC.
Your CPU might be limiting your GPU performance slightly. But honestly, this isn't the big deal some claim. I’d hold off another year or wait until CPU costs fall so you can keep your GPU. I’d also seriously think about a B550 or B450 model for easier future upgrades.
