Cleaning the fans, heatsink, and replacing thermal pads when needed should help reduce temps and enable higher boost speeds. Based on budget, an i7-4710MQ or i7-4700MQ (not HQ, MQ!) can boost performance by 30-40%. They’re around $60 to $70 on eBay. A i7-4800MQ or 4810MQ offers 45-50% improvement for $45-50, while a 4900MQ gives about 60% gain for $130. In the US it's significantly more affordable. Once you have something like an i7-4710MQ, there aren't many improvements left. There are no newer CPUs available, and RAM is still limited.
