Upgrade path for i9 9900k to newer chips
It’s not worth it upgrading from 8 cores to 8 cores and getting a new motherboard, or upgrading just one generation and paying a lot of money to a 10900k which is not that much better. My recommendation is to wait for ddr5 and intel 12th gen/ryzen 6000.
I understand, I’m open to changing my motherboard if the upgrade looks good. My MSI MEG Z390 ACE may not fully support the new Resizable Bar feature, which makes me think about whether it’s worth going ahead with this technology.
I’d keep the 9900K for now since Intel’s current options don’t offer a substantial boost that justifies the cost. It might make more sense to wait and see if Alder Lake delivers improvements, or consider a Ryzen CPU in the future—whether it’s a 6000 or 7000 series—so you can experience real performance gains.
Zen 3 might be better, you can switch to a 12c/24t or 16/32 when the 11th generation is around. If you're stuck with 8/16, it's likely outdated now.
