Upgrade option for your RYZEN 5 3600
Upgrade option for your RYZEN 5 3600
You're considering upgrading your gaming setup in late 2025 or early 2026. Right now you're using a RYZEN 5 3600 and an RTX 4060 with 16 GB DDR4 RAM. You're thinking about moving to the AM5 platform, aiming for a new motherboard and possibly a more powerful CPU. Your concern is whether the current GPU will still be a bottleneck at 1080p resolution. Also, you're looking into options like a MOBO and a 32 GB DDR5 RAM upgrade.
To target AM5, any CPU compatible with AM5 should work without causing performance issues. The R5 8500G is the only one with concerns mainly due to PCIe constraints rather than actual speed. The main factor here is your budget. Since you intend to upgrade in over six months, today’s suggestions may quickly become outdated. For example, the R5 7600 remains a solid budget choice, but by then the 9600X could have become more affordable or new Ryzen 9000 variants might appear at lower prices. It’s hard to predict accurately, so revisit your plans once you’re closer to the upgrade date.
Your 7600X seems to have some issues, but it could still be worth considering. Comparing it to a 7700X might help you decide if an upgrade is right for you.
Was es wirklich wert, oder? Und passt es für den 4060? Manche Bewertungen deuten darauf hin, dass der 9600X eher eine modifizierte Version des 7600X ist.
Just get 5700X3D and you'll be fine. I don't see any reason to switch to AM5 for gaming if you're going to grab 7600X/7700X as those trade blows with 5700X3D depending on what game we're talking about. The extra cost is not worth it imo. there will always be a bottleneck, the only thing that matters is if you'll get the performance you deem satisfying
Your 4060 will likely slow down most AM5 processors, except possibly the 7600X. The best choice depends on your intended use for the CPU.
Essentially, things can shift quite a bit within six months to a year when you commit to buying everything. By then, the price of the 9600X might even drop down to match or beat the 7600(X). It really depends on what games you play, but that’s probably the case. On the other hand, the AM5 chipset is usually more than needed for a 4060. If you’re not looking for extra features, stick with a 5600 or maybe a 5700X3D and keep your existing motherboard.
I understand you'd like to move to AM5 and avoid restrictions on future upgrades.
