At around 1-2fps it works fine. The Ryzen 7 3700X is a good choice, and you can upgrade later without needing a new motherboard. AMD makes sense. If you really aim for better performance than the R7 3700X, consider getting the i9 9900K—it offers a noticeable boost in games. The i7 9700K provides only a slight improvement, around 0-2%.

That's accurate. If I choose Ryzen, I'd likely start with a newer CPU, fit it into my existing setup, then upgrade to a new motherboard, followed by adding more RAM and a GPU as needed. For example, R7 3700/3800 or R9 3900X.

I recommend choosing the 3700X from those options. The 3800X adds only a small upgrade in price, while the 3900X provides minimal gains for gaming. It's also the top-end CPU model I'd suggest for your B450 Elite. Although I don’t have much VR experience, I believe any processor with eight cores or more will suffice.
