No problem... Since no one has time for that, perhaps games with regular updates like Dota 2 will... We just don't know because we can't predict the future.
Current AAA titles may receive updates on DX12, but likely not in the forms you anticipate. The decision hinges on whether developers find it financially worthwhile to modify existing projects and future work, and if they’re prepared to invest in optimizations for platforms like NVIDIA’s cards. Which games will see changes? Most in the ongoing development phase should be updated, especially those reliant on DX11 performance. MMOs are expected to get patches eventually, though it may take a long time due to their strong DX11 support. Graphically intensive titles that depend heavily on multiplayer, such as COD and Battlefield, will likely be updated. The remaining segment includes niche developers like CDprjoktred and MAXIs, who prioritize reputation over speed. I remain skeptical about their impact on revenue but appreciate their commitment. (Anyone believe ACIV will be updated?)
Recent matches may not be refreshed to dx12 since it's only supported on Windows 10. Luckily, dx12 might not become popular at all.
I believed complex multiplayer titles were the ones facing CPU limitations.
Yeah, though that impact shouldn't be huge from a dx12 upgrade. Very few titles are built for multicore performance. GTAV proved it's possible (and I'm feeling a bit proud because I run a 5960). Still, we hit the ceiling on what can display on screen. Unity has likely shown us this before (though I'm not defending Ubisoft—if they couldn't adapt to current constraints, their dev team would need a serious shake-up). Right now, the hardware isn't the main issue; it's more about how the software interacts with the system. DX11 came out back in 2008, and it's safe to say most people recognized its limitations long before AC Unity was released. I'm not thrilled about Microsoft forcing a Windows 10 update just to support it, but it's ultimately their decision. Maybe some coding changes are needed, though I don't think that's the case.
I believed I saw a mention of a tweet from the CDPR developer suggesting they could look into a dx12 patch for Witcher 3.
