You've built a new PC and encountered Ethernet performance issues. The cable works well on your laptop but caps at 10 Mbps when connected to your PC, even though both MSI and Intel report 10 Mbps full duplex. After reinstalling drivers, you can't exceed that speed without losing connection. Consider checking the cable quality, ensuring it's properly seated, or trying a different Ethernet port on your PC. If the problem persists, contacting the manufacturer's support for hardware-specific troubleshooting might help.

Begin at Start > Search for Run > Type "devmgmt.msc". This will launch Device Manager in Device Manager. Go to Network Adapters, locate the relevant adapter, right-click and select Properties. In the Advanced settings, ensure the dropdown is set to "Auto Negotiation".

The setting was initially chosen as "Auto Negotiation," yet it remains capped at 10mbps. Changing it back wasn’t possible without reinstalling the drivers, and the problem continues.

This X470 Gaming Pro Carbon from MSI works fine overall, just a minor connection issue.

The installation of the drivers came from the most recent release directly from Intel, not from MSI's website.

Download the driver directly from Intel's site. After installation, return to Device Manager, remove the old drivers, restart the computer, and finally execute the Intel setup tool.

This action repeats the previous behavior, preventing adjustments to speed and duplex while causing a full disconnection.

Visit your Network and Sharing Center, then adjust adapter settings. Turn off the device and turn it back on. This helps ensure full speeds are applied. My setup uses an older NIC version.
