Update for Far Cry 4 and CrossFire players: bug fix applied.
Update for Far Cry 4 and CrossFire players: bug fix applied.
Here’s a revised version of your message:
I finally managed to get CrossFire running, but it’s not a permanent fix. Until a CrossFire profile is available for Far Cry 4, this should be the best option. It functioned for me at least—both GPUs reached full capacity. Results might differ!
What steps should I take?
1. Launch Catalyst Control Center (if you’re a Crossfire user)
2. From the menu, select the “Gaming Tab”
3. Click on “3D Application Settings”
4. Add the Far Cry 4 Exe file
5. Make these adjustments:
- Set “Texture Filtering Quality” to “Performance”
- Change “AMD CrossFire Mode” to “AFR Friendly”
6. Save and then start the game!
Final thoughts: Your experience may vary, just like I mentioned earlier. What worked for me might not work for others, but it should help. This should be useful until an official CrossFire profile is released. I’m not sure if anyone has tried this before, but it’s aimed at users having trouble with the game. Don’t expect perfect performance—there may still be some frame drops during gameplay. Hope this helps! Enjoy! -Dive5885
It doesn't seem to connect with your "8990." Whatever that GPU is.
The 8990 is an AMD OEM card, actually a 7990. Before making this change, games performed poorly in CrossFire.
Thanks a lot, it's working well for me. I notice a higher frame rate now compared to before. The first card loads at 97%, and the second jumps to 95% (previously it was stuck at 0%). Running on 2x XFX 6950 with 2GB RAM. Appreciate the help!
The goal of this update is to improve smoothness during crossfire. I haven’t enabled the high-quality setting.
With High Quality Filtering in place, those 'Performance' guidelines can be omitted since most users prioritize top image quality. I mentioned it just to confirm whether the adjustment addresses performance or if it's solely related to AFR settings.
I understand you're not impressed by the visual quality, but I'm focused on delivering smooth gameplay. This temporary solution works well with crossfire enabled, improving performance by over 95%. You either accept this change or move on. The original post clarified it's intended for crossfire-only scenarios—no worries if you don't have that feature.
