Update for Far Cry 4 and CrossFire players: bug fix applied.
SLI remains unresolved with persistent issues in that title. Ubisoft's performance is consistently poor. Image ghosting forces a full game restart each time you access menus, even the map. The only solutions are playing single cards, disabling AA, turning off ambient occlusion, or maxing them out. WTF
It's true that SLI had some issues with Far Cry 4, and I understand your point about Ubisoft's recent performance.
Thanks a lot, everything works great. I verified performance can be adjusted to Quality. Previously dropped 2 fps. Now running at 2x R9 290 with 2560x1440 at ULTRA, achieving 51 fps with drops to 20 FPS. Frame time stays under 20ms. Without this update I was getting 20-28 FPS at the same settings. EDIT: Nice game
I've got PowerColor HD 7990 with two GPUs in one card, and I'm facing the same issue—my second core isn't working. I have the newest AMD driver, but the Control Center only lets me turn it on or off. Anyone else have similar problems?
I'm happy the game came with a Samsung SSD, since it had been acting up before. It runs smoothly on a GTX 980 but sometimes freezes and ends with a black screen. This is the only one in my collection that behaves like that, so it's not a hardware issue.
I felt a huge surge of excitement after applying this solution. The second card maintained speed at 1050 by 1250 until the loading screen appeared... then it dropped to 300mhz down to 150Mhz. (I have an external monitor that tracks this.) Fps improved but at the cost of quality. I didn’t set up a side-by-side for you guys since no one really cares. But sadly, it didn’t enable the second card. I’ve been using dual cards since 2006, even upgraded to Quad GPU on my old MSI board a few years ago. When technology can’t keep up with software, doubling should help! That’s the main idea behind SLI/Xfire... Yet... more than ten years after its creation, it still isn’t widely adopted? What’s going on? This is crazy! Like, seriously? WTF? There’s a whole world of tech available to developers, yet only about 60% are using it. They’re probably buying low-quality games, but how are you pushing the industry forward? I remember all the videos I watched for Half-Life 2. I attended tech seminars after each one at age 14... I understood how that game worked before it was released. Now... where are we? Arguing about whether Nvidia or Radeon is better (sorry, AMD...) Well, Intel has been the top competitor since the 80s and Nvidia since the 2000s, but together they’re still not getting good support for dual GPUs. It’s just BS.
