It functioned with the buzzing noise, though the high-pitched As* remained.

It sounds like you're referring to a rare, high-pitched sound that appears sporadically. Could you clarify the context or provide more details? I'm here to help!

Both noises sound similar, but they are actually different. The "COIL WHINE" comes from the mouse's movement, while the buzzing is a separate sound. The buzzing stopped because the source changed, but the high-pitched noise happened more often before.

Currently, it only occurs when I press the middle button to enable automatic scrolling on a webpage.

It's really unpleasant and consistently warm! It's always dusty, and I've never seen any snow.

Turn off all devices while the computer is running... is there any sound left?

Observing that the sound appears only when the mouse is moved, disconnecting everything would definitely eliminate it.

It seems like the coil whine is noticeable. Don't worry, your PSU in your grandma's HP model tends to produce a lot of this noise.

I also faced the same issue with my previous mouse before it stopped working. I was using a Logitech wireless model, and occasionally I would notice a faint high-pitched whine coming from the inside of the device. Eventually, the mouse failed, so I switched to a wired Corsair Raptor M40 and it has worked fine since then.
