I'm still checking this out and planning to search on Sunday. As mentioned before, it's not urgent since I've disabled Samba, but I anticipate people might ask about it. I've been suggesting that users mount /home with the noexec flag to stop malware from running from their downloads folder. I'll see if this helps prevent the exploit.
