Understanding the 9th Gen Intel question
Understanding the 9th Gen Intel question
Do you have any background on using the RockItCool tool? I’ve tried it on a 7700k and Pentium 4600. For a 9900k, do I need the newer 9th-gen version? The old tool should work fine.
It shows both yes and no aspects. The silicon in the 9th generation is thicker. Extra details: the die itself is thicker too. The measurement shows previous CPUs at 0.87mm PCB thickness, while the 9th generation is 1.15mm. That’s a 0.28mm gap. I plan to trim about 0.3mm from my current tool so it matches the new generation properly. Then I’ll 3D print a spacer to fit older chips. Done.
