I haven’t adjusted the BIOS settings. It functions well with any Windows version, and I’m thinking about reinstalling Windows 8.1 (it struggles with 10 but works fine with 8.1), though I’d prefer using it with Chromium instead.

I hadn't realized you had set up any Linux distributions before. That’s why I assumed secure boot was enabled. It seems we’re getting closer to figuring out what’s going on. Thanks for clarifying—I didn’t know chromium was installed, and I’m not sure why it wouldn’t show the USB boot option either.

You're thinking about using your Gateway to set up the operating system directly on a drive and then relocating it. That could be a viable option, even if it isn't the perfect setup. Appreciate the guidance!

I attempted the hard drive from the Gateway laptop, and Cloudready worked well on the Inspiron. I’ll proceed with moving it as planned. Thank you for your assistance!

No problem at all, happy to see it’s working. I’m still keen to understand why the USB didn’t connect. Please share any details you discover, and I’ll let you know right away. I don’t want to miss anything I’ve been puzzling over.

I'll look into it more when I can spare some time on a rainy day.
