Unable to start CloudReady on Inspiron 1545 device
I need to set up ChromeOS on a Dell Inspiron 1545 using CloudReady. The system isn’t showing up in the BIOS even when I create a bootable USB, while other machines do. The processor is a Pentium Dual Core with 3GB DDR2 and a 320GB HDD. The graphics are GM45. Any suggestions?
Is the UEFI set to run only UEFI mode? That could explain why it doesn’t display CSM.
It seems like the device isn't displaying properly. Are you connecting a USB 3.0 drive and using a USB 2.0 port? I've experienced this before with another laptop I owned—despite supposed backward compatibility—I switched to a USB 3.0 drive and it functioned correctly. Back then, I didn’t have spare USB 2 drives on hand.
You're connecting a USB 2 drive to a different laptop via a USB 2 port, and it's functioning properly.
Oh OK, just an idea was all. Can't think of anything else it could be that would cause it not to show up at all. Did you try a different port? and can you try a different drive, maybe a powered hub might help too, maybe the laptop isn't providing enough power for the drive.
I’m already on my way to work, though I’ll look back later. I’ve used Zorin and Mint before.
